For the season finale of Scenezoned, we explored Siquijor with the one and only Alex Diaz to discover all the wonders this magical island has to offer.
After flying to Dumaguete, we took a ferry ride to Siquijor which took around a couple of hours. Immediately when we got there, we hopped on our scooters and went around the island. We decided to explore the mystical side of Siquijor on our first day by visiting two faith healers. The first one we visited was Aling Aning who is one of the few remaining potion makers of San Antonio in Siquijor. She gave Alex a quick cleansing and showed us the different potions and amulets she made. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to test if the love potion or gayuma works.
After a short side-trip to Mt. Bandilaan view point and the infamous century-old Balete Tree, we then visited Mang Guillermo – a Bolo-Bolo healer. Using a glass, a brass straw, a pebble and a pinch of magic, we were able to cleanse Alex a little bit more. For the record, I don’t think Alex is that dirty though.
For our second day, we explored the natural beauties that make Siquijor one of the most wonderful destinations in the country. Our first stop was the vast Cambugahay Falls where we marvelled at the natural formation of the walls while swinging through a tree branch. After a quick picnic lunch, we headed straight to Salagdoong Beach. Salagdoong is famous for its clear blue waters and of course the plank-of-death aka cliff jumping. You actually have three choices for the cliff jump – 15 meters, 20 meters or none at all. Of course I picked the third one. Duh. Alex and a couple members of our crew though braved the 20-meter jump though and it was the perfect cap off to an amazing trip. I was more than happy cheering them on.
